Edo SDP peace accord hits deadlock

There seems to be no end to the lingering crisis rocking the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Edo State, following the impasse over who, lawfully, should fly the party’s flag as authentic candidate of SDP, for House of Representatives, Owan federal constituency, Edo State.

This has created confusion in the minds of the electorate, as the party is yet to put its house in order in Edo North as the general elections draw near.

At a peace meeting on Monday, SDP leaders in Auchi, tried to resolve the crisis as they advised the aggrieved parties to withdrew their different suits pending before the Federal High Court in Benin City.

It was gathered that Mr Dickson Oarhe, who emerged candidate of SDP for House of Representatives at the primary election held on November 29, 2014, has instructed his counsel, Ehi Ogierhiakhi, to withdraw the suit as demanded by party leaders. It appears, however, that the other party is yet to comply with the directive.
