A-Ibom ex-militants back Jonathan, Emmanuel

By Chioma Onuegbu

Uyo—OVER 70 aggrieved ex-militants cutting across the different local government areas of Akwa Ibom State have thrown their weight behind the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, state governorship candidate, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, in the coming elections.

They expressed the fear that Jonathan’s failure to be re-elected into office could affect the sustenance of the amnesty programme.

Speaking on behalf of others, yesterday in Uyo, Ekah Godwin, said they would remain loyal to Jonathan’s administration despite the fact that they were neglected after laying down their arms to embrace the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

Godwin said: “We also believe that if President Jonathan is re-elected into office, it will provide more opportunity for those of us that have been shortchanged in the Amnesty programme.”
