ILORIN—The governorship candidate of Labour Party, LP, in Kwara State, Dr Mike Omotosho, has called on Nigerians to cooperate with INEC to deliver free, fair and credible elections even as he urged them not to allow the postponement of the elections affect their earlier desire to chose who would lead them in the next four years.

In a statement in Ilorin yesterday, Omotosho said: “Nigerians must see reasons for the postponement. It is too risky to conduct elections without the support of security agencies, if we must have a credible election so they must understand and cooperate with INEC.

“We must cooperate with INEC to deliver us free, fair and credible elections. If they cite security reasons I think it is enough to postpone the elections, especially taking into account the insecurity in some parts of the north. We must remain calm and not take laws into our hands at any time, because we don’t have any other place we can call our country than Nigeria. The 2015 general elections must not separate this country, we must continue to exist after the elections.”

Omotosho, however, commended the zeal Nigerians have so far exhibited for the election, pointing out that it showed that democracy had come to stay in the country.

He also enjoined Nigerians to use the six weeks extension to collect their Permanent Voters’ Cards, PVCs, and vote for credible candidates.

He then called on Kwarans to use the extension to appraise all governorship candidates in the state, saying he was determined to end poverty in the state if elected.
