Bajaj Nigeria, manufacturers of Bajaj three wheelers says Naira devaluation has forced the company to reduce prices of its tricycle, as it plans to expand and improve on transport business with introduction of car-like four wheeler before 2015 ends.

The Head, Sales & Marketing, Bajaj Nigeria, Mr. Firpous Ahmad disclosed this during a competition tagged; “Speed to lead championship,” organized at the instance of three wheeler operators in Lagos, where he said that the challenges facing businesses in Nigeria are all engrossing, that which is facing the tricycle business in Nigeria today is Naira devaluation which has forced the company to reverse its prices.

Ahmad who said the company has the majority share in tricycle business worldwide is the largest exporter of automobile in India. “We produce 60,000 tricycles a month in India, the biggest tricycle manufacturer worldwide.”

The Sales & Marketing personnel stated that the introduction of tricycles in the Nigeria transport system has helped to ameliorate the problems associated with transportation in the country.

A situation he described is an indication to improvement on the present state of the transport system, as well as helping in boosting the economic fortunes of Nigerians and that of their families.

Mr Ahmad who said the competition is to test the speed, durability and stability of the new RE 4S tricycle amongst representatives from various parks around Lagos will have the winners rewarded with the new Bajaj RE 4S worth about N400,000 and two BM 100 motorcycles for the first, second and third positions respectively.

Speaking on availability of the parts Ahmad said that the company has been able to decentralize its spare parts selling points to meet with the demand of their customers, putting into consideration attempt to by unscrupulous individual to fake its parts. The marketing personnel went further to say that the new 4S tricycle has 28 features which has given it an edge over other competing brands in the market.

On the safety of the tricycle, he listed the features saying that they include 8.1kw power engine compared to TVS’s 6.42 engine capacity, double spark plugs, compared to TVS’s one, wheel base 2,000 to 1,950 of TVS, gradability of 0.19 to TVS’s 0.125, and has more convenience and safety of drivers tools, cash and documents.
