Imo State-born youthful entrepreneur, Prince Alex Mbata has declared that the failure of Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okoroccha to win the APC President ticket is a blessing in disguise for the people of Imo state.
Mbata who is the CEO of ABM Global group, stated that what the nation has lost in Owelle Okorocha being president, Imo would gain as he will remain at Douglas House, Owerri for another four years to continue the Imo Rescue Mission which he has effectively done in the last three years.
Mbata pointed out that it is clear that the Imo state governor would not complete the several laudable programmes he has started before May next year.
“It is better for us to have him as our governor after May 29 next year. If Owelle Okorocha had gone to Abuja there is no guarantee that the good work he has started in Imo will continue. So, for me, his not getting the presidential ticket of APC is good for Imo people. Even Okorocha’s political opponents can attest to the fact that Imo is being renewed in the area of infrastructure and in all other sectors, especially education. So, why lose a man that is rescuing Imo to Abuja?” Mbata queried.
Mbata who is the pro chancellor and chairman governing council of Imo state university was full of praise for the Imo governor for turning education around in Imo state.
“I m happy the governor has paid special attention to education because the first thing a leader must do to emancipate his people is to educate them. Ignorance and poverty go together. The free education program of Owelle’s administration is one that will take Imo to the next level,” Mbata stated.
It would be noted that the APC governorship primary did not hold last week in Imo. Everything points to Okorocha who is the chairman of APC governors forum picking the ticket. He would be slugging it out with the incumbent deputy speaker of the house of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha who last week secured the PDP ticket.
