OWERRI—The member representing Ikeduru constituency in Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Sam Anyanwu, says the sad event of 25 December 2009, is not in the character of Nigerians.
The lawmaker re-echoed the feelings of his colleagues at a reception organised in Owerri by Champion Publisher, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, for the visiting Mayor of Watham Forest, London, Councillor Anna Mbachu. “Nigerians are very peaceful. What happened on December 25 last year, is not in our character. It is wrong for anybody, organisation or government to write off 150 million people for the sin of one misguided boy,†Anyanwu said.
Arguing that “tagging Nigeria a terrorist state makes every individual Nigerian a suspect,†the lawmaker, however, appealed to the visiting Mayor to help educate citizens of United Kingdom on the true disposition of Nigerians.
