BENIN CITY—A Non-Governmental Organisation, Grandmothers Advocacy Network, GRAN, based in Canada, has donated Food items and medical equipment worth millions of naira to boost humanitarian services of the Nigerian Red Cross Society to accident victims.

Facilitator of the Network Habiba Suleman, said the gesture was aimed at providing the relevant support to improving the lives of victims involved in emergencies, accidents as well as other crisis situations.

While donating the food items and medical aids such as bags of rice and other consumable items, at the 2014 First Aid Youth Leadership Camp to the Chairman, Edo State chapter, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Mr. Moses Obazee,  Suleman stressed the need for  well-meaning Nigerians to provide support to voluntary organisations rendering humanitarian services to Nigerians.

Receiving the items, state chairman, Edo State branch of the Nigerian Red Cross society, Mr Obazee, represented by the finance and planning adviser, Mr. Monday Edogiawere, applauded the effort of the NGO, noting that “the arrival of the materials were timely and would go a long way in addressing the challenges faced by the organisation in attending to the needs of causalities of accident and emergencies cases.

“Particularly in these trying times of Ebola outbreak and the acts of terrorism by Islamic sect, Boko Haram in the Northern part of the country.”
