N14bn Owena dam not abandoned —Ondo Govt

By Dayo Johnson

Akure—ONDO State government yesterday dismissed insinuations that the N14 billion multi-purpose Owena Dam inherited from the late Dr Olusegun Agagu administration had been abandoned.

Agagu initiated the project in partnership with the Federal Government in the twilight of his tenure and paid N7 billion being 50 percent mobilisation to the contractor before he was removed from office.
Speaking in Akure, the Works Commissioner, Gboye Adegbenro, said government was committed to completing the project.

Adegbenro noted that the delay in completion of the water project was because of a fundamental error noticed in the contract agreement which left out the route survey in the reticulation of the water to the central Senatoral areas of the state.
