Mobile Software Solution, the leading African Mobile Games company and platform, yesterday in Lagos flagged off a national competition which revolves around using technology to fight malaria .
The Chief Software Architect/Originator of the Malaria Destroyer Game, Chris Uwaje said while unfolding the criteria for the national competition at a news briefing that the contestants had been challenged to conquer the e-Health adventure of the regional contest.
“With over 300,000 deaths every year by Malaria in Nigeria, the National Competition of Malaria Destruction becomes a mission- critical assignment for the nation”he said.
According to Uwaje, one of the main focus and thrust of the game is to reduce the colossal number of deaths by Malaria and also the cost of loss of productivity which stands at 11.7% annually.
He explained that the MDG Solution was designed to reach about 70 million people in Nigeria, 150 million in West Africa and 500 million in Africa.
“The Malaria Destroyer Game (MDG) is a trade mark and aims to bring more to intuition the awareness on how to fight/eradicate mosquitoes from our environment thereby preventing malaria’ he added.
He said, “The solution had been endorsed and recognized by the UN , UNESCO e-Learning Chair Open Media and CVL; MainOne and ActiveEdge amongst others, for its innovative origination, impact International appeal and conformity to local content deliverable.
Uwaje explained that the basic criteria for the 2014 national competition on Malaria Destruction included mandatory online registration, per-qualification, download access, upload game score submission and release of final result of regional winners, among others.
1st place Team, according to Uwaje, will receive N500,000 price and a trophy, while the 2nd place Team winner will receive N250,000 and a trophy as well. N150,000 and a trophy is expected to go to the 3rd place Team winner
“Only online registration will be accepted. All Interested Individual should form a Team made up of 2 or 3 individuals. 10 Teams will be selected from region. There would be a total of 60 Teams. Please register online at http://mobilesoft.com.ng” he further explained.
Uwaje said while the online registration would open opens from Monday, August 4, 2014, to Sunday August 24, 2014, all pre-qualified Teams for the regional contest would be notified by Friday, August 29, 2014.
He further explained that download access would be granted to all regional finalist for the regional contest, adding that the download access would be released to the finalists from August 29, 2014 to September 5 2014.
Uwaje who had been preaching software Nigeria said that September 7 through 14 2014 would be the official score upload/submission date.
He said all contestants must upload and submit their game score, using the “submit score” button.
Accordingly, he said regional winners’ list will be released by the panel of Judges on September 30 2014 at www.mobilesoft.com.ng
All contesting teams, according to him, are expected to submit three game scores from three different game playing sessions, adding that final l Team total score will be determined from the average of the three submissions.
He said results of the regional winners would be released by September 30, 2014, after which they would qualify for the final national competition scheduled for March, 2015.
