Nigeria’s under-development attributed to disregard for planning — IPN

The Institute of Planning of Nigeria, IPN, has attributed Nigeria’s under development to disregard for planning.

Speaking at the induction ceremony of new IPN members, Director General of Centre for Management Development, CMD, Dr. Kabir Usman, said that from inception Nigeria had adopted development plan as a major strategy to achieving socio-economic transformation and rapid development, but in recent times had abandoned the laid down plans to run a baseless schedule that has done the country no good.

Usman who was speaking at the induction of 103 certified members of IPN stated that without proper planning, very little can be achieved in terms effective service delivery for sustainable development.

He went on to say that a country that moves into the future without proper plans is like a blind person walking along the road, that such a country would not be able to achieve much and its economy may eventually collapse. “Proper planning is therefore a very vital tool for improving service delivery for the achievement of sustainable development,” the Director General said.
