APC youths blame party’s cracks on failure of internal democracy

BY  KINGSLEY OMONOBI

ABUJA—A youth group, the APC Youth Frontier, has attributed the cracks in All Progressives Congress, APC, on injustice and failure of internal democracy within the party, noting that same was responsible for the defection of some of its former leaders, such as General Buba Marwa,  Attahiru Bafarawa and Ibrahim Shekarau, among others, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Speaking in Abuja, where it declared that they were decamping to the PDP  in solidarity with their patrons and leaders, the group which is a coalition of youth groups from the 36 states of the federation and Abuja, noted that unless the issues of imposition by the leadership of the party and injustice to those who made the party formidable were addressed, the party will continue to chase after shadows.

National Coordinator of the group, Mr Usman Austin, said: “The inability of the party to administer internal justice and follow international best practices as regards democratic tenets had created fears and discontent among youths and if allowed, such a party will visit injustice on the entire country. We, as a group, are afraid for our country and our future and henceforth, state categorically, that we dissociate ourselves from the APC

“When the leadership of APC insisted that the incumbent governors be made the leaders of the party in the states, were Lagos and Kwara states exemptions? How come in Lagos State and the entire South West, none of the sitting governors is the leader of the party?

“During the last membership registration exercise in Adamawa State, Governor Nyako, who defected with only his cabinet to APC, hijacked the party and denied any space for the multitude that came from the legacy political parties such as CPC, ANPP, ACN.”
