‘True federalism ‘ll stabilise Nigeria’

DELTA State commissioner for higher education, Prof. Hope Eghagha, has advocated true federalism as the only solution to Nigeria’s socio-political problems.

Eghagha, who was fielding questions from journalists at the God’s Kingdom Society’s (GKS) Christian Feast of Tabernacles in Warri, Delta State, said that true federalism would stabilize Nigeria.

He said that the festering Niger Delta question would have been solved if the principle of true federalism was followed, saying “in the 1960 to 1963 constitution there was the principle of derivation and 50 per cent goes to the state.

“But a situation where a particular part of the country generates income and it is taken somewhere and distributed at the end of the month is not well managed.”
