As part of its 10th anniversary reward system for African journalists who have covered its activities in the past nine years, organsiers of the prestigious African Movie Academy Awards, AMAA, has instituted media recognition awards with $10,000 as prize money.
The award, according to a statement by the award body, is open to print, broadcast and online journalists from Africa and in the Diaspora. While the star winner will smile home with the sum of $5000, the second and third prize winners will take away $3000 and $2000 respectively.
To be nominated for the award, prospective contestants are expected to submit two original feature stories on the activities of AMAA within the past 9 years, and which must be submitted on or before March 31, 2014.
Also, journalists who do not have published work or who want to submit two fresh stories are advised, however, to submit such stories written between December 1, 2013 and March 31st, 2014 to [email protected].
A five member panel of media professionals from the print and broadcast media have been deployed to assess, as well as evaluate all entries to determine the winners. Winners will be announced and rewarded during this year’s edition of AMAA, holding in April, 2014.
