It was a good week for the student Architects, Builders,Urban and Regional Planners of various Lagos state universities as they took part in the Capacity Development Integration (CDI) workshop of African Artists’ Foundation, last week of August.
This pilot edition of Capacity Development Integration entailed the design and construction of pavilions and installations for LagosPhoto under the design mentoring scheme ‘Capacity Development Integration (CDI). Capacity Development Integration (CDI) is an innovative new program organized by African Artists’ Foundation (AAF) and encouraged by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos Innovative Council (Innovate Lagos) that combines the collaboration between creative mentors and students, and culminating in dialogue and constructive experimentation geared towards generating socially inclusive results.
CDI will play a pedagogical role for students to utilize the knowledge and skills obtained from institutions of learning through a practicable work initiative. The key objective of CDI is early engagement of educational training and rewarding hard work and willingness to develop further.
This year’s CDI programme will feature the design concepts of Architects Tosin Oshinowo-Akinkugbe (cmDesign Atelier) and Ifeanyi Oganwu (Expand Design Limited). Deputy Chief of Staff (Lagos State), Ms Moji Rhodes, member Lagos Innovative (Innovate Lagos) Council also made an appearance to show support to the students.
