BY Emma Amaize

WARRI—TOMPOLO Foundation, a charity group founded by ex-militant leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, A.K.A. Tompolo, yesterday, commenced a two-week capacity training for 50 secondary school science teachers in Warri North, South and South-West local government areas of Delta State.

Executive Secretary of the Foundation, Mr. Paul Bebenimibo, said the N7 million scholarship programme was to equip the teachers to effectively use the laboratory equipment, books and other items donated to schools in the riverside areas

He said: “The Tompolo Foundation is aligning itself with the UNESCO views on the need for students to receive science education from able science teachers.”

“Also, based on the foundation’s objective of promoting effective education for the less-privileged students, it has partnered with the College of Education, Warri, for the Science Teacher Practical Skills Enhancement programme.”
