Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan jogged into the Warri Stadium and electrified the full house. Thousands of kids cheered.

They were at home with him as he took a lap of honor in celebration of Delta’s successes in sports.

Just on Children’s day in Lagos on Monday he watched his state team, Ogedegbe Primary School win the Channels Kids Cup at the same venue he lifted the National Sports Festival trophy last December. The event yesterday was the final of Delta State’s Governor’s Cup.

It was a huge success. And when the crowd cheered his entry he appreciated them by jogging the more round the stadium apparently adding to the show that those who watch games live only enjoy.

When the game started the boys thrilled and made the crowd happier. At the end, Ogwashi Uku Secondary School emerged champions of the maiden Governor’s Cup in Delta State.

In an interesting final that had a full house at the Warri Stadium and which was live on Supersport, AIT and Channels television stations the Ogwashi-Uku boys proved book makers right when Victor Odiwanor scored a brilliant goal in the second half and sent their supporters celebrating.

Alegbo Secondary School were expected to enjoy greater support in Warri since they are from Effurun, near Warri. But Okwashi Uku supporters were louder. And their team lived up to expectation.

Ex international Jay Jay Okocha had urged them to make him proud by lifting the trophy. They did and went home with a 30 seater bus and N2m. They are also to embark on a training tour abroad. Alegbo and Edjekoka schools that were runners up and third place finishers  respectively also went home with  buses.
