ABEOKUTA — National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bamanga Tukur, has declared that the era of imposition of candidates in the party was gone.

Tukur also siad that the report of the reconciliation committee set up for South-West PDP has described the party in Ogun State as one and united, commending the party financier, Buruji Kashamu, for his role.

He spoke while addressing about 2,000 members that defected from Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, to PDP in Ijebu-East Local Government Area of the state.

Tukur, who was represented by the party’s National Auditor, Chief Wole Adeyanju, urged members of the party to work hard to oust ACN from office in 2015.

According to him, “PDP was now one in Ogun State. We have received your report on reconciliation efforts and we noted that members of PDP have remained together and ready to work together.

“I have seen that PDP in the South-West is ready to take over the government come 2015.” Therefore, I pledge my support to all that will bring PDP to government in the next election.

“PDP is not dead. If about 2,000 members of ACN, in a local government, could decamp, it means ACN is dead in Ogun State.”
