UMUAHIA – SUCCOUR has come the way of motorists and commuters plying the dilapidated Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway as a team of army engineers weekend, mobilised and commenced repair works at the badly damaged Lopkanta Cattle market axis in Umunneochi Local Government of Abia State stretch of the road.
The over 20 army engineers from the Corps of Army Engineering, led by Col. Mark Mamman from Army Headquarters, Abuja, mobilized heavy road construction equipment and embarked on the repairs on that portion of the road to the joy of road users who have been going through harrowing times on the road.
Already, the team has created easy passage on one lane for motorists and other road users, while they engaged in major repairs on the lane.
According to leader of the team, Col. Mamman, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Azubuike Ihejirka, directed the Corps to mobilize its men to repair that portion of the busy road which has been a serious nightmare to motorists and other road users.
