The selective killing and wanton destruction of properties in Damaturu has continued unabated.

On Thursday midnight at about 2am, Saturday Vanguard gathered that over 50 hoodlums stormed the residence of the Governor Ibrahim Gaidam’s in-law at Gwange area ward of Damaturu, Yobe state.

An eye witness who choose to remain anonymous said, “ we heard noise around 2am as the hoodlums were shouting on top of their voice, ordering all the occupants of the house to vacate the building before they set it on fire. From my calculation, they were about 50 in number and some of them were armed.

Due to the problem of network because of the attack on the GSM facilities few days ago, most of the neighbors could not reach the security operatives for assistance.”

Damaturu, the Yobe state capital has lost all the appeals, features and allure befitting of a state due to the escalating nature of the insurgency. As at the time of filing this report, the governor was away in Kaduna as well as the in-law whose house was burnt.
