The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has distanced itself from a statement circulating in sections of the media, saying it did not authorise or issue the publication.

In a statement issued on Sunday, AYCF President-General, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, described the publication as unauthorised and said it does not represent the position of the Forum.

Shettima said the statement did not emanate from the recognised leadership of the AYCF and urged the public to disregard it.

According to him, the Forum is reviewing the issues surrounding the publication and will make its position known after due consultations.

He said the AYCF remains committed to addressing national issues with objectivity, caution and respect for due process.

While reaffirming the Forum’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Shettima stressed that the organisation remains committed to fairness, accountability and the rule of law.

He expressed concern over the unauthorised use of the AYCF’s name, saying it could mislead the public and undermine the organisation’s credibility.

Shettima disclosed that the Forum had commenced an internal investigation to identify those responsible for the publication.

He also said the AYCF would write to the media organisation that published the statement to seek clarification on its source and the circumstances surrounding its publication.

He urged the public to rely only on statements issued through the Forum’s official communication channels and reaffirmed the AYCF’s commitment to Nigeria’s unity, peace, stability and progress.
