OWERRI — Former Deputy Governor of Imo State and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Imo East (Owerri Zone), Prince Eze Madumere, has urged Nigerian youths to cultivate a positive mindset, embrace hard work and remain disciplined in pursuing success.

Madumere made the call while inaugurating the students’ wing of the “Journey of Grace” initiative as part of activities marking his 62nd birthday in Owerri.

Addressing the students, he encouraged them to remain focused on their goals, stressing that sustainable success is built on consistency, resilience and productive effort.

He also outlined his vision for Owerri Zone, promising quality representation, youth and women empowerment, job creation and policies that would create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive if elected to the Senate.

According to him, he is committed to signing a social contract with the people of the district to ensure accountability and effective service delivery.

Madumere said his “Journey of Grace” agenda is aimed at restoring hope and advancing the aspirations of the people of Owerri Zone through people-centred programmes.

He described students as the future leaders of the country and urged them to uphold integrity, humility, transparency and courage in their personal and professional lives.

The former deputy governor also advised the youths to think creatively, embrace innovation and pursue excellence through legitimate enterprise rather than seeking shortcuts to success.

He said the changing global environment requires a generation capable of adapting to technological advancement, challenging outdated ideas and contributing meaningfully to national development.

Madumere further cautioned against the pursuit of instant gratification, noting that lasting success requires sacrifice, perseverance and a clear sense of purpose.

Earlier, President of the Students’ Union Government of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Nwosu Desmond, expressed support for the initiative and pledged the students’ commitment to its objectives.

Activities marking Madumere’s 62nd birthday also included a community outreach programme tagged “Feed the Street,” as well as visits to the Red Cross at Emmanuel College and an orphanage in the World Bank area of Owerri.
