The Customs Area Controller of the Ports & Terminal Multiservices Limited, PTML Command, Deputy Comptroller Nura Miko, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting the Customs Officers’ Wives Association, COWA, PTML Chapter, as the association ushered in a new leadership.
Speaking during the COWA PTML Chapter handover ceremony, Miko explained that the handover was more than a leadership transition.
He said it represents continuity, service and the enduring contributions of Customs officers’ spouses to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) family.
He said: “On behalf of the officers and men of PTML Command, I assure COWA PTML Chapter that we will always support your activities.
“The Command recognizes COWA as a strategic partner in promoting the welfare of officers and their families. Whatever support is required within our capacity – be it logistics, venue, or moral support – will be readily provided”, he said.
However, he commended the immediate past Chairperson, Mrs. Ifeoluwa Anani, for her exemplary leadership and the successful execution of impactful projects during her tenure.
He noted that the achievements recorded under her administration had strengthened the association and positively impacted members and the wider Customs community.
Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated Chairperson of the COWA PTML Chapter, Mrs. Nabila Miko, pledged to build on the achievements of her predecessors by sustaining programmes that have positively impacted members and the wider community.
This is even as she acknowledged the successes recorded by the association, including the celebration of International Women’s Day, the “COWA Healthy Wife, Wealthy Life” sensitization workshop, breast cancer awareness campaigns, end-of-year outreach initiatives, participation in the Green Border Initiative School Adoption Programme, and environmental sensitization lectures.
Miko noted that these programmes have set a commendable standard for the chapter, reflecting COWA’s commitment to the welfare of members and service to society.
She commended the outgoing leadership for laying a strong foundation and expressed her determination to consolidate on the gains achieved while introducing initiatives that align with the vision of the association’s National Headquarters.
According to her, the PTML Chapter under her leadership will prioritize three key areas: welfare, empowerment, and community service. She explained that efforts would be directed towards strengthening support systems for officers’ wives, particularly during difficult periods, expanding skills acquisition and financial empowerment programmes, and deepening the association’s impact through health, educational, and environmental initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of communities.
