Chaka Technologies Ltd., Nigeria’s first SEC-licensed digital sub-broker, has launched a rebranded investment platform, Hisa, aimed at expanding access to Nigerian, Kenyan and United States stocks for retail investors across Africa.
The company said the new application is designed to simplify investing and make it more affordable and accessible for everyday Africans, especially first-time investors who have traditionally been discouraged by complexity and unclear pricing structures.
Hisa replaces the former Chaka trading application and now allows users to invest in equities listed on the Nigerian Exchange, alongside selected international stocks.
According to the firm, the platform integrates multiple investment options within a single application while introducing new features such as automated investing, after-hours trading, integrated research tools, faster trade execution, and a flat 1 per cent commission per transaction.
The company said the rebrand reflects its wider ambition to build a pan-African investment platform serving users across the continent.
It explained that the name “Hisa,” a Swahili word for shares, was chosen to reflect its expanding footprint in both East and West Africa.
For many retail investors, particularly newcomers, barriers such as high entry complexity and opaque fees have limited participation in capital markets. The company said its simplified interface and transparent pricing are designed to address these challenges and encourage broader market participation.
Existing users of the Chaka platform will retain access to their portfolios and transaction history following migration to the new application.
In Nigeria, investment services will continue to be provided under Chaka Technologies Ltd.
The company added that as digital investing gains momentum across Africa, platforms like Hisa are positioning themselves as gateways to wealth creation for a new generation of investors seeking exposure to both local and global markets.
