The Ughievwen Professionals Forum (UPF) has paid glowing tribute to the late Hon. Sunny Kpikpi Kotor, describing his death as a significant loss to Ughievwen Kingdom, Delta State, Nigeria, and the wider media and political communities. The Forum also highlighted his immense contributions to community development, noting that his unwavering commitment to the advancement of his people and his service to society left a lasting impact that will be remembered for generations.

In a statement signed by its President, Dr. Israel Ejomafuvwe Kwode, the Forum expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the veteran politician, public affairs commentator, community leader, and respected communicator, who will be laid to rest on Friday, June 26, in his hometown of Okwagbe, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Forum described Kotor as one of Ughievwen Kingdom’s most distinguished sons, noting that his contributions to politics, public discourse, and community development earned him widespread respect and admiration across Delta State and beyond. According to the Forum, his passion for community advancement and grassroots development endeared him to many and helped shape positive change within his kingdom.

According to the statement, the late statesman was renowned for his exceptional communication skills, deep knowledge of political history, and unwavering commitment to public service. The Forum said his ability to simplify and articulate complex political issues made him a respected voice in Delta State’s political landscape for nearly four decades.

“His death has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill,” Dr. Kwode stated.

The UPF noted that throughout his approximately 38 years of active involvement in politics, Kotor played a vital role in democratic development, political mobilization, public enlightenment, and community empowerment, becoming a trusted source of political insight and guidance for many within and outside the state.

Beyond politics, the Forum recalled his warm personality, humility, and dedication to the welfare and progress of his people. Popularly known by admirers as “Paulsongan,” “Illewerri of Africa,” and “SKK,” he was celebrated for his wisdom, sense of humour, strong Christian faith, and tireless advocacy for the development of Ughievwen Kingdom.

While mourning his passing, the Forum urged members of his family and the wider Ughievwen community to take comfort in the enduring impact of his life’s work and the legacy he leaves behind.

“We will surely miss Sunny Kotor. He was our big brother, mentor, and pride. His contributions to Ughievwen Kingdom and Delta State will remain evergreen in our hearts. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” Dr. Kwode said.

The tribute adds to the growing outpouring of condolences from political associates, community groups, professional bodies, and admirers who have continued to celebrate the life, achievements, and enduring legacy of the late Sunny Kpikpi Kotor.
