Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo,will lead dignitaries to honour maverick musician, activist, and cultural icon Charles Oputa, aka Charly Boy, at the official launch of his autobiography.

Obasanjo, who has become closely associated with Charly Boy over the years, will serve as Chief Host of the event. The Charly Boy Foundation is organizing the book launch to celebrate the remarkable journey of “Area Fada” and his contributions to entertainment, activism, and Nigerian culture.

The launch is scheduled for Friday, July 31, 2026 at the Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Beyond celebrating Charly Boy’s life and legacy, the occasion will also spotlight the Charly Boy Foundation’s advocacy work and commitment to driving positive social impact across communities.

The event will draw government officials, business leaders, members of the diplomatic community, media personalities, and key stakeholders from across Nigeria.

“Beyond celebrating the life and legacy of Charly Boy, the event will be an evening of reflection, inspiration, and celebration of resilience, courage, creativity, and service to society,” the Foundation stated.

The autobiography chronicles Charles Oputa’s decades-long influence from music and rebellion to advocacy and cultural leadership.
