Business mogul and investor, Otunba Valentine Olaleye, has commended Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for creating an enabling environment that has attracted the proposed Dangote Group mega industrial and free trade zone project to the state.
Olaleye described the development as a significant milestone that reflects growing investor confidence in Ondo State and signals a new phase of economic growth and industrialisation.
In a statement issued in Akure, he said the proposed project represents “the revival of hope, the return of confidence and the awakening of a long-awaited economic vision” for the state.
“I heartily commend the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for the purposeful leadership, economic foresight and investment-friendly direction that have helped to bring this landmark opportunity into focus,” Olaleye said.
According to him, the Dangote Group’s renewed interest in the Olokola axis is a clear endorsement of the state’s economic potential and the policies of the current administration.
“This development is not just another business announcement. It is a clear vote of confidence in Ondo State, its people, its resources and the future being deliberately shaped under the present administration,” he added.
Olaleye noted that Olokola has long been regarded as one of the most strategic economic corridors in the South-West due to its coastal location, energy resources and vast development potential.
He said the proposed investment goes beyond a business venture and marks the resurgence of a vision that has remained dormant for years.
“The renewed interest of the Dangote Group represents more than investment interest. It represents the revival of hope, the return of confidence and the awakening of a long-awaited economic vision,” he said.
The investor further praised Governor Aiyedatiwa for prioritising policies that encourage private sector participation and economic expansion.
“By strengthening the confidence of investors and promoting a climate where serious businesses can thrive, his administration is laying a foundation for sustainable development, wider employment and long-term prosperity,” he stated.
Olaleye expressed confidence that the industrial and free trade zone would become a major driver of economic activities in the state, creating opportunities across manufacturing, logistics, construction, energy, agriculture, transportation, trade and hospitality sectors.
According to him, the project will generate both direct and indirect employment, boost local businesses, expand commercial activities and improve the state’s revenue base.
“This is the kind of development that can change the story of communities. When major industries take root, the benefits go far beyond factory gates. Markets become more active, transporters find new opportunities, artisans gain new work, farmers access better value chains, small businesses expand, and families experience the dignity that comes with productivity and stable income,” he said.
Olaleye also highlighted the importance of the supporting infrastructure expected to accompany the project, including power supply, gas facilities, water systems and modern logistics networks.
“No state can achieve sustainable economic growth without the right infrastructure, the right partnerships and the right leadership. Governor Aiyedatiwa has shown commendable commitment in positioning Ondo State for such growth,” he said.
He called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youths and other stakeholders to support the initiative, stressing that projects of such magnitude require cooperation and collective commitment.
“As this vision progresses towards reality, I am confident that the Olokola Industrial and Free Trade Zone will become one of the defining economic legacies of this era.
“Olokola is more than a location on the map. It is becoming a symbol of Ondo State’s economic rebirth, a gateway to opportunity and a testimony that with the right leadership, our state can rise to greater heights,” Olaleye added.
