Shittu distributes books on anti-financial crime to Lagos public secondary schools

The Managing Director of Lanre Shittu Motors, Mr. Taiwo Lanre Shittu, has officially flagged off the statewide distribution of Clean Hands, Bright Future: A Youth Guide to Avoiding Financial Crime in Africa to public secondary schools across Lagos State.

The initiative commenced at Kuramo Senior College and Victoria Island Senior Secondary School, Victoria Island, Lagos, marking the beginning of a broader educational outreach programme that will make the book available to students in public secondary schools throughout the state.

The project is aimed at educating young people on the dangers, consequences, and long term impact of financial crime while promoting integrity, responsible citizenship, hard work, ethical leadership, and financial literacy.

Speaking during the flag off ceremony, the author of the book, Adedayo Aluko, emphasized the importance of early intervention in shaping the values and character of young people. He noted that the initiative seeks to equip students with the knowledge required to make informed decisions and avoid the temptations and pitfalls associated with fraud, cybercrime, identity theft, examination malpractice, and other unethical activities.

Students were encouraged to focus on education, acquire relevant skills, embrace hard work, and build a reputation founded on honesty and good character. They were reminded that sustainable success comes through legitimate means and that the consequences of financial crime can be severe and long lasting, affecting careers, families, reputations, and future opportunities.

The principals of the beneficiary schools commended Mr. Taiwo Lanre Shittu for sponsoring the initiative and for his commitment to youth development, character building, and educational advancement. They described the programme as timely and impactful, noting that such interventions would contribute significantly to shaping responsible future leaders.

Published in May 2026 and endorsed by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Clean Hands, Bright Future addresses the growing challenges facing African youths, including societal pressures, economic hardship, cybercrime, fraud, and the pursuit of quick wealth. The book simplifies complex financial crime concepts and provides practical guidance on how young people can identify, avoid, and resist involvement in criminal activities.

Beyond fraud prevention, the book also serves as a mentorship resource, encouraging young people to embrace patience, value creation, integrity, and ethical leadership as pathways to sustainable success.

The statewide distribution programme represents a significant investment in the future of Lagos youths and reflects a shared commitment to raising a generation that values integrity over shortcuts, character over compromise, and lasting success over temporary gains. Through this initiative, thousands of students across Lagos State will gain access to practical knowledge that can help them make better life choices and become ambassadors of integrity within their schools and communities.
