Twenty six fighters will feature in the Professional Fighters League Africa card slated for tomorrow at the Eko Hotel in Lagos. Apart from eleven bouts involving men, there will also be two bouts featuring female fighters. In the mix is a Nigerian fighter and Police woman, Juliet Ukah who will take on Liberia’s Ferreira in the women’s strawweight class.

Top on the bill is a featherweight clash between African champion Wasi Adeshina of Nigeria and Nacho Campos (Spain). The fighters were presented to the media at an elaborate press conference at the same venue yesterday, where they talked about their missions and targets for tomorrow.

Adeshina who was born in Lagos said for the first time in his career, his mother will be at the cage side to witness him fight. “I don’t want to disappoint my mother. That’s why I must beat my opponent.”

He insisted, “as a champion, I am going to fight like a champion. I won’t talk much. I will do the talking in the cage tomorrow.”

On his part Campos who will be fighting in Africa for the first time said he was not bothered that he will be fighting away from home. According to him, “a cage is a cage, whether in Spain or in Africa. It will be the two of us and no one will help anyone in the fight.”

The two fighters promised Martial Arts enthusiasts a good fight tomorrow.

Another high profile bout will feature Patrick Ocheme of Nigeria against Octave Ayinda of Cameroon in the lightweight class. Ayida has had 8 fights, 7 wins and one loss

Like his opponent Ocheme who hails from Benue state has tasted defeat once and promised to bounce back tomorrow and rediscover his winning ways.

Other bouts tomorrow include Alain Majorique of Cameroon against Dwight Joseph of Liberia in the bantamweight category.

The General Manager, PFL, Elias Schulze told the media that they were happy being in Nigeria as the country was too blessed with talents to be ignored. “Nigeria is a very important country, full of talents and the right infrastructure for Martial Arts. We are indeed happy to be here and would want to be here again and again,” he emphasised.
