Nigerian-born Spanish rapper Dareysteel does not make music only for entertainment and profit. For him, music is a tool to make the world a better place.
The globally acclaimed rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer sees his craft as a weapon in the fight against injustice, crime, and racism. For almost 30 years, he has used intellectually charged lyrics to advocate for positive change in society.
Dareysteel’s journey began with the release of his debut single on promotional mixtapes in Madrid in 2003. Since then, he hasn’t looked back.
One of his most impactful tracks, “How Come”, became anthem on the streets of Madrid in June 2020, during the European leg of the Black Lives Matter protests honoring George Floyd.
His consistent message has earned him recognition from the communities he represents.
In May 2025, the African community in Madrid honoured him with a Merit Award, describing him as “one of the African Spanish singers who has consistently used music to fight against injustice and all forms of racial discrimination. A change maker and role model with intellectual lyrics.”
On November 8, 2025, the Nigerian diaspora community in Seville, Spain, presented him with another award. The organizers noted that “Dareysteel is a noble musician who uses his lyrics to constantly fight against injustice, racism, and all forms of crimes against humanity.”
