The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Ogun Joint Campus Council,JCC, and the National Association of Ogun State Students, NAOSS, have endorsed the emergence of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, as the All Progressives Congress, APC flag bearer for the Ogun East Senatorial District.

The student bodies described Abiodun’s emergence as a reflection of public confidence in his leadership, citing his developmental achievements, youth-focused policies and inclusive style of governance.

In a joint statement signed by the Chairman of NANS Ogun JCC, Comrade Tijani Habeebullahi, and the National President of NAOSS, Comrade Olubodun Olalekan, the organisations said they monitored the APC senatorial primaries across Ogun East and found the exercise peaceful, transparent and orderly.

According to them, the conduct of the primaries demonstrated growing democratic maturity within Ogun State’s political environment.

The students commended Governor Abiodun for what they termed his “people-oriented leadership,” noting that his administration had recorded visible progress in infrastructure, youth empowerment and governance.

“His tenure as Governor has been marked by impactful governance, youth inclusiveness, infrastructural development and people-oriented policies, making him a worthy pathfinder and a distinguished servant of the people,” the statement read.

The organisations also congratulated other victorious APC candidates in the state, including Senator Salisu representing Ogun Central and Hon. Ojugbele representing Ogun West, describing their emergence as evidence of their political acceptability and grassroots support.

They urged students and young people across Ogun State to participate actively and peacefully in the forthcoming general elections, stressing the importance of supporting credible leadership.

Following their observation of the primaries, the leadership of NANS Ogun JCC and NAOSS paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Tokunbo Talabi.

During the meeting, Talabi reportedly reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to youth engagement and pledged continued collaboration with stakeholders to mobilise students for active participation in the electoral process.

The student groups reiterated their dedication to democratic principles, peaceful political participation and sustained advocacy for greater student involvement in governance.

They also called on political actors and residents of the state to maintain peace, unity and political maturity ahead of the next electoral season.
