Ahead of next week’s primaries, former spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Seye Oladejo, has officially declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Mushin Constituency II.
Oladejo made the declaration on Saturday at an event held at Ogba GOS, Vono Bus Stop, in Mushin, Lagos amid mammoth crowd.
The event was attended by a high ranking member of the Governance Advisory Council, GAC and apex leader in Mushin/Odi-Olowo Constituency, Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon; the lawmaker representing Mushin Constituency II, Yinka Esho Kazeem; Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Olatunbosun Aruwe; party leaders, ethnic and religious leaders, stakeholders and party faithful.
Speaking on his decision to join the race, Oladejo said his ambition was driven by a desire to serve the people of Mushin at a higher level.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as efforts to reshape the nation’s economy and stabilise the political landscape.
Oladejo also praised Senator Solomon for his political achievements, describing him as a leader who had won elections into the local government, House of Representatives and Senate.
He assured constituents of quality representation and improved development across the constituency.
Speaking on why he should be elected, Oladejo said: “If you look back, there is no gainsaying that even my bitter rivals cannot deny the fact that I have achieved a lot for the constituents.
“I am here today to seek your support for the House of Representatives seat for Mushin Constituency II. Without being immodest, I am one of the best Mushin has produced. With my experience, I am well acquainted with my constituency, and my constituents know me.
“Lagos should be accorded a special status. We shall revive our schools and collaborate with industrial training hubs. We shall also support market men and women. I am committed to supporting public policies. Together, we will build a constituency we can all be proud of.”
Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Olatunbosun Aruwe, expressed confidence in the emergence of Oladejo and Kazeem as candidates for the House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly respectively.
According to him: “By God’s grace, our aspirant, Hon. Seye Oladejo, will emerge as the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives contest. Also, Hon. Yinka Esho Kazeem will emerge to represent Mushin Constituency II for another term in the State House of Assembly. Let us join hands and ensure victory for the party.”
Earlier, the Director-General of the Seye Oladejo Campaign Organisation (SOCO), Kayode Shobande, urged party members to vote for competence, continuity and experience.
“Our concentration should be on winning the ticket for our candidate, Seye Oladejo. Our priority should not be money, but actualising the dreams of our aspirants in Mushin Constituencies I and II. Let us vote for experience, competence, unity and continuity,” he said.
Also speaking, Chairman of The Mandate Movement in Mushin Constituency, Abdul-Fatai Idowu, formally presented the aspirants to party members.
“By the power conferred on me by the apex leader and leader of The Mandate Movement, Distinguished Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, I present to you Seye Oladejo for the House of Representatives and Yinka Esho Kazeem for the Lagos State House of Assembly. They are our trusted candidates for the positions,” he said.
