Abuja: A University of Abuja scholar, Professor Isaiah Ilo, has developed a new AI-powered system to help academics and students in writing their theses and dissertations with ease and confidence.

Professor Ilo, who leads the Thesisprofs group that developed the brand, known as SpeedWrite, said the breakthrough will give major academic research support to academics and students and bring an end to the confusion in research writing.

Prof Ilo told our correspondent in Abuja on Friday that the system, which is to be officially unveiled to the academic community in June, is a structured AI-powered academic writing system developed to simplify and reorganise the way students and academics approach thesss, dissertations, and academic writings.

Prof Ilo said the system was developed under his leadership after years of observing the persistent difficulties students face in academic research writing across Nigerian universities.

Prof Ilo said, “Unlike conventional AI writing tools that merely generate text, Thesis SpeedWrite introduces a guided academic workflow that takes users through topic refinement, project planning, literature organisation, guided analysis, drafting, and revision within a structured system aligned with university research standards.

“The goal is not simply to help students write faster, but to restore clarity, structure, and academic direction to the entire research process.

“For years, many students have approached research writing with confusion, fear, and uncertainty, not necessarily because they lack intelligence, but because the process itself has become fragmented and difficult to navigate.

Thesis SpeedWrite was built to change that. I am excited that we now have a system capable of simplifying the journey for students while also improving supervision, structure, consistency, and academic efficiency within our universities.

“The platform incorporates several integrated components, including structured planning tools, curated literature systems, guided reading frameworks, and revision support mechanisms designed to help users produce more coherent and academically defensible work,” Prof Ilo, who specialises in literature critique, said.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Professor Isaiah U. Ilo described the system as a long-awaited intervention for students, supervisors, and institutions struggling with the growing complexity of research writing in the AI age.
