BENIN CITY – AHEAD of the party primaries for the 2027 general elections, a frontline politician in Edo State, Hon Crosby Eribo has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to reward those who have laboured to sustain the party when the party was in crisis.

Eribo made this call on Monday at the Egor local government secretariat of the APC where he declared his intention to seek the ticket of the party for the Egor/Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency.

He said he was elected as a member of the Edo State House of Assembly and for four years, the former governor, Godwin Obaseki did not inaugurate him yet he remained in the party.

Eribo said visiting the secretariat and seeing the crowd of supporters who came on their own volition made him become emotional considering how the secretariat started with people donating personal items for furnish the place.

According to him, “It is like a home coming for me, I remember many years ago when we started the struggle for this party, there was no APC, a few of us had to look for accommodation for the party, some of those people are dead.

“It was tough but we insisted that the party must not die but I want to say that those that work for the party should be rewarded, APC must learn to reward those who worked for it.

“For four years, I was elected as a member of the state house of assembly, Obaseki did not inaugurate me, yet I did not leave the party.”

While commending the peaceful nature of the APC aspirants in the constituency so far, Eribo called for the zoning of the seat between Egor and Ikpoba-Okha local government areas to reduce the rancour that goes with election in the constituency.

On his edge over other aspirants, Eribo said “I have been a local government chairman, administratively, I am very capable, I have been a member of the state house of assembly so when it comes to legislative I am grounded. Legislative is not a tea party business but you need to know the people and know how to represent them.”
