JOS – In a heartwarming story of integrity, a small-scale trader in Jos, Mrs. Sarah Luka, has returned the sum of ₦1,000,000 (One Million Naira) that was mistakenly put in the goods she purchased  by a wholesaler.

Mrs. Luka, who runs a small business at Lamingo area in Jos, had gone to Terminus Market on Saturday to buy leather bags from  a wholesaler  Mr. Abubakar Dola.

According to Mr. Dola, he had kept ₦1 million inside a polythene bag, intending to send it to a POS operator for transfer.

In the process of packing the leather bags worth ₦6,000 for Mrs. Luka, he mistakenly included the bag containing the money.

Three days later, on Monday, Mrs. Luka returned to Mr. Dola’s shop and handed over the entire ₦1 million.

In an  interview with our correspondent Mrs. Luka, a Christian, explained that she promptly returned the money because it was a clear mistake.

“I am a poor businesswoman,I know what it means to suffer loss she added.

If I put that kind of money  that  is not mine into my business, I believe God would punish me,” she said.

When asked further what motivated her action, she simply replied: “Because the money is a mistake and not mine.

”Mr. Abubakar Dola, who operates from Terminus Market, expressed deep gratitude and relief.

“I had completely given up because I didn’t know how the money got lost. “

I didn’t even think I put the money in someone’s goods,” he said.

He added: “I pray Allah rewards her with more than what she did for me.

I pray Allah gives us more people of her kind who fear God. It’s not easy to have people of her character.”
