The Senior Pastor of The Second Coming of Christ’s Ministry, Adewale Giwa, has condemned the Ondo State Police Commissioner’s directive to suspend night activities in churches.

The commissioner, Adebowale Lawal, issued the directive following the abduction of six worshippers at Celestial Church in Owo.

Giwa described the commissioner’s assertion as “cowardly, disappointing, and unfortunate”.

He stated that police officers should protect lives and property, not dictate how churches worship.

“Nobody can dictate to the church how, when, or at what time to worship God,”

“However, we should not allow fear to control us. All of us need to stand firm and resist the evil.

Giwa accused the police of giving in to bandits’ attempts to Islamize Nigeria and urged Christians to stand firm and resist evil.

“At this crucial period, I urge Mr. Lawal to send his men to protect all the religious centers across the state rather than subject us to fear.

“As a matter of fact, Mr. Lawal has been working diligently since he was deployed to the state. I’m aware that his office is facing serious challenges in terms of security equipment.

He called on the government to provide necessary equipment for the police to combat crime and protect religious centers.

Giwa also appealed to the Ondo State government to provide surveillance drones to curb criminal activities, acknowledging the police commissioner’s diligence despite facing security challenges

“The government should also stand up to its responsibilities in providing necessary equipment for the police to combat the miscreants.

“Let me use this opportunity to call on the government of Ondo state to provide enough surveillance drones with a view to curbing criminal activities.

He said that ” When government commands contradict religious doctrine, we often follow the principle to obey God rather than men.
