Stakeholders and youth advocates have called on political communicator and author, Edeh Benjamin, to consider contesting for the House of Representatives seat for Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra Federal Constituency of Cross River State in the 2027 general elections.

The call follows the release of the 2027 election timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which has triggered early political alignments and consultations across the country.

Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, a group operating under the aegis of Youth Advocates for Good Governance said the time had come for credible young Nigerians to step forward and actively participate in the democratic process.

Leader of the group, Ukpono Honour, said their appeal to Edeh was informed by what he described as the latter’s growing influence as a political communicator, author, and Pan-African advocate.

“We are impressed by Edeh’s commitment to speaking for the voiceless and his work bridging youth energy with practical leadership vision,” Honour stated. “We believe his experience positions him to represent our interests effectively at the National Assembly.”

The group maintained that the constituency deserves vibrant and forward-looking representation capable of articulating the concerns of young people, women, and underserved communities. According to them, the clamour for Edeh’s entry into the race reflects a broader demand for fresh, youth-driven leadership anchored on accountability, transparency, and responsive governance.

They further recalled that in 2025, Edeh published a book titled The Broken Wings of an Eagle, which focuses on resilience, hope, and leadership. The publication, they noted, earned him recognition among youth leaders and civil society organisations nationwide, strengthening their conviction that he possesses the intellectual depth and advocacy experience required for legislative responsibilities.

As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of 2027, observers say calls for generational shift and increased youth participation may shape candidate selection processes across party lines in the months ahead.
