As Afrobeats cements its place on the global stage, artists like AM VBYZ are redefining what it means to honour tradition while pushing creative boundaries.

For the Nigerian-born, UK-based artist, Afrobeats is not merely a genre it is culture, rhythm, and spirit. His music carries the bounce of African drums and melodies rooted in his upbringing, yet it also reflects his experiences navigating different environments and creative scenes abroad.

“My heritage plays a huge role in my sound,” he says. “The drums, melodies, and bounce are rooted in where I come from, but I blend that with my experiences in different places to create something fresh.”

AM VBYZ sees himself as an explorer — both musically and personally. His songwriting draws heavily from lived experiences, conversations, and the cultural narratives embedded in African resilience and wisdom. These influences shape his themes, giving his work a layered, reflective quality.
