ABUJA — The North-Central Coordinator of the City Boy Movement (CBM), Amb. Abdulfatai Yahaya, has congratulated the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, on his victory in the recently concluded Federal Capital Territory area council elections.

In a statement made available to journalists, Yahaya described Maikalangu’s re-election as a reflection of the people’s trust and confidence in his grassroots leadership and performance.

He noted that the election outcome underscores growing acceptance of people-oriented governance in AMAC, which he described as the political and administrative heartbeat of Nigeria’s capital.

According to Yahaya, the victory represents not only political success but also validation of effective leadership, continuity in governance, and a strong connection between the chairman and residents.

“Hon. Christopher Maikalangu’s victory at the polls is well deserved. It is a testament to his commitment to grassroots development, inclusive leadership, and his ability to deliver tangible results that directly impact the lives of residents,” he said.

Youth inclusion and governance continuity

Yahaya commended the chairman’s accessible and responsive leadership style, noting that young people across the North-Central region, particularly those aligned with CBM, view Maikalangu as a model of progressive governance.

“As a movement that believes strongly in youth inclusion and development, we are encouraged by leaders like Hon. Maikalangu who continue to create opportunities and platforms for young people to thrive,” he added.

He stressed that the chairman’s re-election offers an opportunity to consolidate ongoing projects and expand development initiatives in infrastructure, social services, youth empowerment, and community engagement.

Praise for electoral process

Yahaya also lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as a credible and transparent electoral process, urging stakeholders to respect the will of the people.

“Elections are a fundamental pillar of democracy, and the peaceful conduct of this exercise further strengthens our democratic institutions,” he said.

He called on AMAC residents to continue supporting the chairman’s administration, emphasizing that sustainable development requires collective responsibility and active citizen participation.

Yahaya concluded by wishing Maikalangu a successful second term, expressing confidence that his administration would remain a model for effective local governance in the Federal Capital Territory and across Nigeria.
