JALINGO — President of the Nigerian Community in Turkey, Prince Magbo, has described the amended Electoral Act recently assented to by President Bola Tinubu as a significant victory for democracy.

Magbo said the inclusion of ordinary party members in the selection process of candidates demonstrates the foresight of both the National Assembly and the President.

According to him, “This amendment has brought politics back to the grassroots and allowed the true will of the people to be considered. It shows clearly that President Tinubu and the National Assembly are committed to ensuring that democracy works for every Nigerian, not just a privileged few.”

He also emphasised that the Electoral Act 2026 (Amendment) Bill, which makes electronic transmission of results mandatory where applicable, will greatly enhance transparency in the electoral process.

Magbo added that the reforms are essential for building public trust and ensuring that the 2027 general elections reflect the people’s mandate.
