Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Olatunji Disu, has assumed duty as the 55th head of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos, pledging a zero-tolerance stance on corruption and renewed commitment to professional policing.
His appointment took effect from February 9, 2026, following the redeployment of his predecessor, AIG Margaret Ochalla, who is currently attending a short-term professional training programme .
Speaking shortly after taking over, AIG Disu said integrity, accountability and professionalism would define his tenure, stressing that corruption would not be tolerated under any guise.
“I am excited to be back in Lagos and I sincerely appreciate the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for counting me worthy of this opportunity to serve in this capacity,” he said, while calling on officers and men of the command to embrace discipline and diligence in the discharge of their duties.
A native of Lagos State, AIG Disu is an experienced police officer with over three decades of service in operational, investigative and strategic policing.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from the Lagos State University; multiple Master’s degrees in Public Administration and in Criminology, Security and Legal Psychology, as well as an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Investigation.
He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and has held several critical positions across the country, including Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, Lagos; Head of the Intelligence Response Team, IRT; Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT; and Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Special Protection Unit, SPU.
His leadership at the Rapid Response Squad between 2015 and 2021 was widely acknowledged for strengthening urban crime control and intelligence-led policing in Lagos, earning both national and regional recognition.
AIG Disu assured that he would prioritise strengthening the operational and investigative capacity of the FCID Annex, while urging stakeholders, sister security agencies and members of the public to support the police in the fight against crime and the promotion of justice.
