President Bola Tinubu, has charged the people of Ondo state to ensure that the next fifty years of the state, surpasses the first, in prosperity, innovation, peace, and inclusiveness.

He spoke in Akure, the Ondo state capital,during the 50th anniversary celebration of the state.

Speaking through the interior Minister Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the President, said that “Fifty years ago, Ondo State was created to empower its people, harness local talent, and bring governance closer to communities.

“Today, we celebrate a state that has distinguished itself in education, public service, culture, and economic contribution. From Akure to Owo, from Ondo to Ikare, and from Okitipupa to the riverine communities of Ilaje, the people of this state have consistently demonstrated diligence, innovation, and unity.

“You have produced leaders, educators, professionals, and citizens whose contributions have shaped Nigeria’s growth and stability.

“This golden jubilee is not only a celebration of the past but also a vision for the future.

“Ondo State is blessed with fertile land, a long coastline, mineral resources, and a vibrant youth population. Agriculture, education, technology, tourism, and the blue economy are areas where the state can excel, creating prosperity for all.

“The Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda remains committed to supporting Ondo State in harnessing these opportunities, improving infrastructure, strengthening security, and empowering communities, ensuring that every citizen benefits from growth and development.

“As we celebrate today, let us commit to ensuring that the next fifty years surpass the first in prosperity, innovation, peace, and inclusiveness.

” Fifty years is a significant milestone, but it is also a call to action. Let us deepen unity, strengthen democracy, and expand opportunities for all citizens.

” Ondo State has shown that when people work together with purpose, discipline, and vision, great things can be achieved.

The President reaffirms that his administration will continue to protect these democratic values and support initiatives that promote social cohesion, inclusiveness, and equitable opportunity for all citizens.

” As we celebrate this golden jubilee, let us set our sights on a bold and ambitious vision for Ondo State. Let us work together to make this state a model for national progress, a centre of innovation and education, a hub of agricultural and technological excellence, and a place where every citizen can achieve their full potential.

” Ondo State has the talent, the resources, and the spirit to lead by example, and the Federal Government will continue to stand by its people as partners in progress.

“As we celebrate today, let us commit to ensuring that the next fifty years surpass the first in prosperity, innovation, peace, and inclusiveness.

Addressing the people, the state governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said that ” We are determined to ensure that the next chapter of Ondo State’s story is written with boldness of ideas, innovation of methods, compassion in leadership and integrity in execution.

” To our youths, I say with absolute conviction: this Golden Jubilee is yours. You are not merely inheritors of history; you are its authors

“The future of Ondo State will be shaped by your creativity, discipline, and courage and we are committed to equipping you to lead that future with confidence.

“To our elders and fathers of the land, we say: your wisdom remains our compass, your counsel our anchor, and your legacy our responsibility.

Aiyedatiwa added that “To our workers, entrepreneurs, farmers, artisans, professionals and investors, we reaffirm our commitment to building an enabling environment where diligence is rewarded, innovation is supported and talent is allowed to flourish without hindrance.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti state and the former governor of Ondo state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko in their goodwill messages said that brighter future awaits the state in the next fifty years.

They hailed governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for all his achievements across all sectors of the economy.
