In today’s Nigerian newspapers review programme, Today in the News, Vanguard leads with President Bola Tinubu directing that state governments, alongside the Federal Government, will now jointly bear the cost of electricity subsidies.

Another headline states that growing internal rifts within opposition political parties are stoking fears that President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may coast to a second term long before voters cast their ballots.

Vanguard also reports that Abubakar Malami, SAN, former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has approached a Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to have the interim forfeiture order on three out of the 57 property listed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission vacated.

Moving to the next newspaper, The Guardian reports that the growing reliance on court orders to settle party disputes is undermining internal democracy within political parties, a development the opposition is increasingly exploiting to score political points.

Next paper, The Punch’s top headline states that ₦9 trillion was allocated to states from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) inflows in 2025; however, state governors are facing growing criticism from labour unions, civil society organisations and opposition parties over what many see as a widening disconnect between rising revenues and limited improvements in citizens’ welfare.

Lastly, The Nation leads with the Wike/Anyanwu faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, announcing plans to hold its national convention on March 28 and 29 in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
