NANS-Diaspora to host African students’ convention in Australia

The National Association of Nigerian Students in Diaspora (NANSD) has announced plans to host an International Convention of Influence for African students and youths in Australia in 2026.

The announcement was made at the NANSD Secretariat at RMIT University by the association’s Global President, Comrade Juwon Fayomi.

The four-day convention, organised in collaboration with Nigerian Scholars in Australia (NISA), will hold from March 19 to 22, 2026, at the RMIT City Campus, Melbourne, with support from the RMIT Centre for African Engagement.

NANSD said the event would bring together African students, youth leaders, scholars, policymakers, diplomats, innovators and development partners from across the diaspora.

The convention, themed ‘African Youth Leading the Global Narratives: From Diaspora to Destiny, Rooted in Heritage, and Rising with Vision to Build the Futures’, will focus on youth leadership, education, innovation, gender equity and policy influence.

Speaking at the event, Fayomi described the convention as a strategic platform to amplify African youth voices globally and strengthen diaspora participation in governance and development.

He added that the gathering was expected to reinforce Melbourne’s position as a growing hub for global academic and multicultural engagement.
