In a standout moment for Nigeria’s end-of-year concert season, popular cleric Chukwuemeka Cyril Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, made a surprise appearance during Flavour’s headline set at Flytime Fest on Monday, December 23.
The founder of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry joined Flavour on stage at the Eko Convention Centre to perform their collaborative track, “War Ready.”
Featured on Flavour’s Afroculture album, the song blends highlife rhythms with gospel themes and has sparked significant conversation since its release earlier this year.
The appearance drew a massive reaction from the crowd, with fans capturing the high-energy performance on their phones as the duo brought the controversial track to life.
While “War Ready” has previously faced mixed reviews for its blend of church imagery and secular music, the audience at the Eko Convention Centre appeared to embrace the spectacle, which quickly became a trending topic across social media.
Flavour, born Chinedu Okoli, utilized the set to further showcase the creative experimentation that has defined his recent work.
By bringing Odumeje onto one of the country’s largest musical stages, the singer highlighted a growing trend of cross-genre collaborations that bridge the gap between the pulpit and the mainstream entertainment industry.
