The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has charged media practitioners to remain steadfast in spreading truth and promoting peace as vital pillars for national cohesion, amid growing challenges of misinformation and social division.
The call was made by the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike at the 2025 Christmas Carol Service held in Abuja, with the theme “Spreading Truth, Sharing Peace.” The event drew journalists, security agencies, media stakeholders and partners in a season of reflection and celebration.
In her address, the NUJ FCT Chairman described journalists as “beacons of truth,” noting that throughout 2025, members of the council reported fearlessly on governance issues, advocated justice, and amplified voices that contribute to national development. She urged journalists to let the Christmas season renew their commitment to ethical reporting and peaceful engagement, both in their newsrooms and communities, while thanking partners for their continued support.
