The Dr. Bonds and Friends Tour, a fast-growing cultural, business and humanitarian initiative connecting Nigeria with global partners, is set for its second edition with an expanded focus on youth empowerment, skills development and special needs advocacy.

The tour is expected to usher in bring an influential delegation of U.S.-based leaders, mental-health advocates, filmmakers, entertainers, fashion experts, and academics. Scheduled to run from December 6 to 15, 2025, the multi-day tour will span several locations across the state, reinforcing its mission of cultural diplomacy and community upliftment.

Speaking the convener, Dr. Calvin Bonds said the 2025 is initiated to energize Lagos with its message of unity, empowerment, and transformation reaffirming its place as one of the most culturally significant visiting programs in the state.

According to him, the tour has grown into a flagship movement fostering stronger ties between Nigeria and the United States through youth development, special-needs advocacy, academic collaboration, and creative industry exchange. This year’s edition is poised to deliver an even deeper impact through a line-up of community engagements, workshops, talent showcases, and empowerment events.

“The tour kicked off on December 6 with community talent auditions, giving young Nigerians the opportunity to showcase their originality in spoken word, dance, poetry, singing, and acting. Finalists from the auditions will advance to the grand Youth Empowerment Festival.
“A major highlight took place on December 8 with the Pathways to Funding Research Workshop, led by U.S. APAD President, Dr. Sherry Davis, who offered researchers and doctoral candidates hands-on guidance in attracting global research grants.
“From December 9 to 12, the delegation will embark on extensive community outreach, including visits to Makoko, correctional centres, Pacelli School for the Blind, and heritage sites in Badagry.
“The highly anticipated Empowerment Festival on December 13 promises workshops, open-mic sessions, youth competitions, free food, community welfare services, and special-needs awareness programming a full-day platform designed to support, inspire and elevate underserved young people.
“A unique feature of the tour, the Special-Needs Fashion Show, will hold later that evening, spotlighting differently-abled individuals in an inclusive runway show featuring both Nigerian and American designers.
“The cultural celebration continues on December 14 with a Cultural Day and Naming Ceremony, including a group tour of the iconic Nike Art Gallery”, he said.
Speaking on the tour’s vision, Dr. Bonds also noted that, the initiative “is not just an event but a bridge between continents, but an opportunity to uplift communities, and a reminder that global collaboration can create lasting transformation.”
“The 2025 tour places strong emphasis on youth development, special-needs visibility, community engagement, academic empowerment, and strengthening U.S.–Nigeria cultural relations. This year’s visiting delegation includes notable U.S. professionals such as David Tillman (Hair Care Specialist), Dr. McCay Moiforay (Mental Health Expert), Tera Jackson (Actress), Rodricka Gooch (Motivational Speaker), Dr. Sherry Davis (Educator), and Andria Adams (Executive Producer/Women in Leadership Advocate).
“The tour’s continued success is supported by a diverse network of U.S. humanitarian professionals, Nigerian creative-industry leaders, educational institutions, community-based groups, and media partners committed to inclusive development”, he said.
