Project Rescue Urhobo (PRU) has expressed concern over preparations for the forthcoming 2025 Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) National Election, saying key elements of the process remain unclear as the Congress approaches.

In a statement on Tuesday, the group said the absence of a publicly available list of registered branches and sub-branches has created uncertainty among stakeholders. According to PRU, the list forms the basis of Congress participation, and publishing it would ensure clarity on branch eligibility.

The group also highlighted the continued delay in releasing the full delegate list. PRU said aspirants and branches require the information to verify eligible voters and prepare adequately for Congress activities.

The organisation noted that other socio-cultural groups, including Make Urhobo Great Again (MUGA), have raised similar concerns about documentation and verification procedures. PRU said these issues have contributed to growing unease within the Urhobo community as the election draws near.

With Congress scheduled to commence soon, PRU said many stakeholders are seeking clearer communication from the organising bodies to ensure that the process aligns with established UPU principles and traditions.

As part of its recommendations, PRU called for the immediate publication of the complete list of branches, sub-branches, and accredited delegates. The group also urged the leadership to provide clear guidance on accreditation procedures and branch eligibility to enhance public confidence.

PRU appealed to the Board of Trustees, Council of Representatives, Ukoko r’Viebe and the Forum of PGs to intervene and help strengthen the process ahead of the election.
