Omolubi emerges PDP consensus cadidate in Warri North

SAPELE—As preparation for Delta State local government elections begins,  an Itsekiri youth leader and  right activist, Mr. Omolubi Newuwumi, weekend, emerged the consensus candidate of  Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Warri North Local Government Area for the  polls.

Newuwumi emerged at the primaries of the party conducted by the leaders, ward chairmen, women leaders and members in the six Itsekiri wards, as well as two political groups,  G 15 and G30.

Newuwurni won  landslide in the primaries.

Chairman of the Screening Committee, Mr. Patrick Itor, noted that the emergence of Omolubi had put to rest, recent agitations by aspirants in Itsekiri over who would be the choice of the Itsekiri for the chairmanship position in the forthcoming council polls.

It was gathered that when the tussle for who becomes the flag bearer of the Itsekiri in the next council polls became hot among four contending aspirants, a PDP stalwart in the council and current commissioner representing Itsekiri nation on the board of Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, Mr Micheal Diden, called leaders of the two political groups in the council to a meeting, where a committee was set up to select the best of the aspirants to be the consensus Itsekiri chairmanship flag bearer.
