Chairman of the Delta state Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Wilson Asekutu, has congratulated High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, on the conferment of a honorary Doctorate Degree on him by Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo, Delta state.
The TUC boss in a statement described the honour as a “well-deserved recognition of Tompolo’s longstanding contributions to national development, peacebuilding, and advancement of the Niger Delta region.
He noted that Tompolo’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people, his leadership qualities, and his dedication to humanitarian causes earn him respect across the country.
Comrade Asekutu further commended Tompolo for his outstanding role in strengthening Nigeria’s pipeline security architecture. According to him, the high chief’s community-driven strategies and vigilant coordination have contributed significantly to curbing oil theft, protecting national assets, and enhancing economic stability.
“The positive results recorded in the nation’s oil sector underscore the effectiveness of Tompolo’s strategic engagement and relentless service,” the statement added.
The TUC Chairman praised Tompolo’s patriotism and resilience, describing the honorary degree as another remarkable testament to his enduring legacy in the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.
Comrade Asekutu expressed confidence that the new academic honour would open fresh opportunities for greater service, leadership, and peacebuilding.
He once again extended hearty congratulations to High Chief Government Ekpemupolo on the milestone achievement.
