ANWAR-Ul-Islam College Agege are talking tough ahead of the Guaranty Trust Bank newly introduced Super Cup Championship for Secondary Schools in Lagos after beating King College  in the final of the GTBank Heritage Cup season one lheld at Campos Square, Lagos.

In the final game which went into extra time, it took the beautiful strike from Anwar Ul Islam’s Abdulazeez Azeez to dislodge Kings College in the dying minutes.

Their win fetched them a trophy, cash prize of N750,000 and the ticket to play the winner of the Principals’ Cup in the Super Cup Competition at a yet to be named venue on June 2.

Kings College went home with the sum of N400,000 for their efforts, while Saint Gregory  College were consoled with the sum of N200,000 for the third place after beating Answar U-Deen  College Surulere 3-1.

Speaking after the win, Captain of Anwar Ul Islam, Francis Ifeanyi Ofoegbu was so ecstatic for the sweet revenge against Kings College, who stopped them in one of their meetings through a penalty shootout.

He vowed to repeat the same feat in the final of the Super Cup next month.

“It’s a joyous day for me, I haven’t experienced a situation like this in my life. It was a sweet revenge for us. They (Kings College) defeated us before and this time around,I told them that we’ll defeat them this year. This year is my year and I’m so excited today.

“And looking ahead to the Super Cup, we are going into a tactical training to make sure we beat whoever that will emerge the winner of the Principals’ Cup”, he said.

Okolie Ugochukwu, the skipper of Kings College on his part was so depressed that their efforts could not give them the victory.

Also speaking, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) Officer, Bukky Olukyewu lauded the performance of the boys as she said that with this kind of competition, the future of football in Nigeria is still bright.
